Virgin Money Credit Cards – discounts aplenty

Virgin Money have begun heavily promoting the 15 months 0% balance transfer window which comes with the Virgin Credit Card in an aggressive billboard and poster ad campaign.

The card also comes with a 3 month period providing 0% on all purchases and has the now-standard typical rate of 15.9% APR (variable) and gives punters the chance to earn reward points that can be put towards Virgin-affiliated products and services.

So if you fancy getting a month of free broadband, fixed line calls and digital cable TV with Virgin Media, all you have to do to qualify for this freebie is simply sign up for either of the 3 for £30 bundles at the Virgin Media site and pay for it using your Virgin Credit Card. Alternatively, you can opt for any of the 2 for £20 bundles, and still qualify for free installation and the first month free.

The Virgin Credit Card also acts as a kind of automatic discount card which immediately gives the bearer a massive 10% off of all purchases from at Zavvi outlets, Virgin Trains and Virgin Wines. You can also get a 10% discount off of a variety of Virgin Money-branded insurance products, including Car, Home, and Pet Insurance.

Holidaymakers could also save a packet with the 10% discount off of both the Virgin Money Annual Travel Insurance plan and the Virgin Holidays Cruises. Budding aeronauts can also follow in Sir Richard Branson’s footsteps with the massive 50% discount off of the cost of Virgin Balloon Flights – we realise that this might not be everyone’s thing, but we thought it worth mentioning all the same! Maybe in 50 or so years, punters will be able to get a 10% discount off of space flights with Virgin Galactic?

For those whose air travel arrangements are somewhat more orthodox, the Virgin are also offering a pair of Virgin Atlantic American Express credit cards (handled by MBNA). The White Card gives you a 17.9% typical variable rate, 0% on balance transfers for 6 months and allows you to rack up air miles with the Virgin Money Flying Club.

With the White Card Flying Club members get 1 Flying Club mile for every £1 spent on the card. Whats more, if you choose to book with Virgin Holidays or Virgin Atlantic, then you will receive 2 miles for every £1 spent. 3,500 bonus Flying Club miles are also included as an introductory gift.

The Virgin Atlantic American Express Black Card comes with a much less favourable interest rate – 37.1% (variable) – but gives spenders the opportunity to earn twice the amount of miles than they would with the White Card, so that’s 2 miles for every £1 spent on general purchases and 4 miles for every £1 spent on Virgin Holidays and Virgin Atlantic bookings. Black Card holders also get 6,500 bonus Flying Club miles thrown in for good measure.
