European Roadside Cover and Travel Insurance – check for extra baggage

With summer just around the corner, chances are that if you are going abroad you’ve already got your flights/tickets/hotels and everything else sorted out. Passports… check. Pounds changed into euros, zloty, kroner, lira… check. 2-pin plug adaptor… check. Travel Insurance…?

Travel insurance is something that is more and more holidaymakers are considering each year, due to policies being relatively inexpensive, and often easy to obtain, especially in conjunction with European car cover plans.

Seeing as over two million Brits are expected to drive their cars across the Continent this summer, taking out European car cover for insurance and roadside repairs would be a wise move, as it affords you much-needed peace of mind should something go wrong for a marginal increase in monthly premium size.

More often than not, these days its fairly simple to purchase Europe-wide cover for your car along with travel insurance and save money in the process.

Car insurance policies from insurers such as Nationwide and the AA for example come with 90 days of European cover included with all their policies (from third party to fully comp) as standard, which can be used at any time

This can be taken in addition to further breakdown and rescue services, which may also be extended to provide cover for accidents in Europe. It is often the case that buying all insurance options from one provider will entitle you to a pretty hefty discount off of the total cost of all premiums combined, which may end up saving you more than if you bought separate insurance from different providers. You could in theory save even more money by purchasing all your travel needs from one provider – travel insurance, car insurance the lot.
