About Van Insurance
Van Insurance policies are separate from car insurance plans due to research proving that van drivers generally cause fewer accidents on the road and are therefore less likely to make a claim.
It is for this reason that van insurance premiums are generally less expensive than car insurance, and come with a range of additional extras, including cover for tools and equipment stolen from your van or damaged as a result of fire or attempted theft, breakdown cover, cover for the time your van may be off the road, allowing you to arrange for alternative transport. Cover for other valuable items such as satnav devices and personal possessions can be included with the majority of van insurance policies.
Self-employed drivers who crash or damage a van can lose their livelihood as well as their wheels until they get back on the road. Because of this, van drivers statistically take fewer risks on the road, and therefore are able to enjoy more favourable rates of interest. As with cars and other vehicles, there is also the legal requirement for a self-employed driver and companies that employ van drivers to be liable for any damages caused as a result of an accident.
