Ethical banking: People want to see returns on their savings

Consumers are looking for a good return when they are saving and investing in the banking sector, according to Triodos Bank.

The company noted that Brits are becoming more ethically aware while finding the right investment opportunities for themselves.

Huw Davies, head of personal banking at Triodos, said: "A lot of people do still look around for the best rates and that is understandable, but there are more and more people who are saying 'I want to get a good rate but I also want to think about other things'."

He added that the awareness of ethical banking has definitely grown and hopes that it will continue in the future.

Furthermore, Mr Davies noted that more people are becoming ethically aware of where their food products come from and are opting for Fairtrade produce, and this mentality should be taken when it comes to their banking investments.

Recently, the Co-operative group announced profits were up by 50 per cent during last year.
