Expats 'face fewer financial worries'

British expats are finding that living overseas allows them to avoid the financial worries plaguing the UK, it has been suggested.

Recent research carried out by NatWest International Personal Banking found that 71 per cent of retired expats are happy with their decision to move abroad.

In addition, 58 per cent said the experience was better than they originally thought it would be, while a quarter claimed their quality of life is excellent.

Commenting on the poll, ShelterOffshore.com director Rhiannon Davies said: "Anyone who is seriously thinking about moving abroad has a bottom line common denominator which is that they want to improve their life in some way."

She added that many foreign countries place more emphasis on enjoying life than spending disproportionate amounts of time worrying about financial problems such as credit card or mortgage debt.

Ms Davies also claimed that expats benefit from a more laid-back pace of life, better weather and a more affordable cost of living when they move overseas.
