Holidays in one place 'better for kids'

Holidaying in one place rather than rushing around is better for children, a travel expert has suggested.

Parents should be aware of this when booking a getaway, said Travel for Kids editor Elizabeth Young.

Not only will children have more fun but it will allow the whole family to relax, she added.

But it can be "easy and cheap" to go abroad nowadays due to less expensive transport methods, so there could be more choice available for mums and dads who want to escape the dismal British weather.

"Venice and Barcelona are at the top of the list," Ms Young explained. "Paris is a perennial favourite and easy to travel to on the Eurostar."

Of course, families about to jet off for some rest and relaxation might want to consider what home insurance they are covered by before departure.

Some households often forget to update their home insurance information and consequently leave their property underinsured while on holiday.
