People urged to get into the habit of saving regularly

Brits should compare money making accounts and aim to start saving as early as possible, according to Moneynet.co.uk.

Chief executive Richard Brown said: "A regular savings habit is a brilliant habit, even if it is only £10 to £20 a month."

Mr Brown stated that, although putting a little away every month would not necessarily equate to "a lot of money" at the end of the year, saving something "gets you in a habit for when you are in the position of earning more money".

"It’s just good housekeeping," he added.

According to recent figures from Nationwide, three-quarters of people think saving is important but only half save regularly.

Nearly three-fifths of people do not think they are saving enough and 41 per cent of those questioned do not think they will be saving what they should in six months time.
