Pin security 'is important'

Individuals should make it as difficult as possible for anyone to be able to guess a pin, an expert has argued.
A spokesperson for the UK payments association Apacs said individuals should try to make the pins for their debit and credit cards as complex as possible in order to reduce the risk of fraud.
While familiar sequences may help some people to remember the numbers, ensuring they are as difficult as possible to guess should be a priority for all consumers, she said.
"It is better not to use the same pin number and if you can, familiarise a sequence of codes," the spokesperson said.
Further to this, individuals should never disclose their codes to anyone and should make sure they shield it when putting it into a machine.
Research conducted by consumer group Which? found that in a survey of 4,000 individuals, more than half admitted to having the same pin for all their debit and credit cards.
