Car insurance customer given traffic advice

Car insurance customers have been given advice on how they can beat the Bank Holiday traffic this weekend.

According to esure, many motorists will be stuck in traffic jams after failing to adequately prepare for trips and set off early enough.

The car insurance provider pointed out that there are plenty of events taking place across the country, including Reading and Leeds Festivals, and it is best to plan a longer route if necessary to avoid congestion in city centres.

Head of risk and underwriting at the firm Mike Pickard said it is "standard fare" for motorists to end up gridlocked.

"Planning ahead by travelling off-peak and choosing a route that avoids popular tourist hotspots is a great way to beat the queues and spend more of your weekend on holiday," he stated.

Meanwhile, data issued by the Insurance Fraud Bureau has estimated that around 30,000 accidents were staged last year, costing the industry a total of £350 million.
