Car insurance policies 'should be scrutinised'

Drivers looking to take out cover should compare car insurance provided by various organisations and decide which policy is best suited to their situation, it has been claimed.

The Shropshire Star published a report advising people to scrutinise car insurance policies to ensure that they are getting the best possible deal, but that they are also aware of the all the clauses in the document.

According to the publication, 98 per cent of motorists currently pay more than they need to for car insurance coverage - something the newspaper claims could be avoided if people opted for a policy which covers their needs and nothing more.

It explained: "Be sure to take a gander to see what you could possibly be saving. Before you know it, you'll be more than simply reeducated on car insurance, you'll be benefitting from some pretty hefty savings.

Meanwhile, Ian Crowder, a spokesperson for the AA, recently pointed out that being unemployed can affect the cost of a car insurance policy substantially.
