Cars should be given some love this Valentine's Day

Motorists should make sure that they give their car some love this Valentine's Day.

GEM Motoring Assist has said that drivers need to treat their car on February 14th in order to keep it running smoothly over the next 12 months.

David Williams, chief executive of the organisation, said: "Facing facts, as with your better half, you'd be devastated if your trusted vehicle let you down, so why not use Valentine's Day to show your car a little love too?"

It was recommended that a spa treatment, or just a good wash, should be given by car insurance policyholders to their vehicle, while a filling up on screen wash was also a must.

The car equivalent of a gourmet meal – topping up with engine oil – will help the engine to run smoothly, and ensuring the tyres are at the right pressure will prevent uneven wear and tear.

Drivers could even arrange a special date, to spend some time together with their vehicle, giving it a good run out to blow away the winter cobwebs.
