Common car insurance scams revealed by swiftcover.com

Car insurance provider swiftcover.com has highlighted some of the scams which dishonest drivers use to make fake claims.
The company said that the two-for-one ploy involves motorists attempting to claim for old damage when they are involved in a more recent accident.
However, the firm added: "Insurance assessors and garages can spot old damage and dents that were clearly not caused by the accident the driver is claiming for and will not do the repair work."
In addition, swiftcover.com said that some drivers will ask garages to repair old damage or wear-and-tear and hide the cost in the bill that is sent to their car insurance provider.
The company also revealed that many motorists will claim they stored stolen items in their boot or glove box rather than admit they left them on display to thieves.
Recently, Co-operative Insurance claimed that fraudulent car insurance claims cost honest drivers a collective £1.25 billion a year on their premiums.
