Credit crunch 'makes it harder to split up'

Would you stay in an unhappy relationship just for cheaper car insurance?
Well, it seems some people are reluctant to split from their other half because of the current economic climate in the UK.
Research by the online bank cahoot has found some 12.4 million people would be reluctant to break up with their partner at the moment for fear of facing increased bills, such as higher car insurance premiums.
It is estimated that living alone could be £266,000 more expensive over the course of a lifetime than living as a couple.
Managing director at cahoot Matthew Timms said: "There are clearly economic benefits to being in a relationship, such as shared bills, lower rent and even reduced car insurance premiums."
However, he stated with good money management it is unnecessary to stay in an unhappy relationship for financial reasons.
Meanwhile, the Centre for Economics and Business Research claims that one year on from the start of the credit crunch the financial climate has still not normalised.
