More than half decide not to hit the road this bank holiday

Over half of UK motorists have decided not to drive anywhere for a bank holiday break, new research has revealed.
According to the AA, 56 per cent of people said they do not plan to travel over the long weekend, with 23 per cent citing the price of petrol as the main reason why not.
However, 50 per cent of those who are heading for a getaway only plan to take a day trip rather than spend the full bank holiday away.
And the AA said the bank holiday is still likely to be busier than other days, with Tuesday August 27th top for breakdowns.
"We would always advise drivers to make careful preparations for their journey, whether it be a last minute decision or a planned journey," said AA patrol of the year 2008 Andy Taylor.
Drivers might also want to ensure they sort out adequate car insurance before setting off, as some policies can offer cheaper premiums and include breakdown cover as part of the package.
