Most motorists 'admit to driving dangerously'

Almost two-thirds of the UK's drivers admit to partaking in potentially dangerous activity while behind the wheel in the past month.
Research conducted by Sainsbury's Car Insurance found that 64 per cent of motorists have driven dangerous during the past four weeks, with 38 per cent eating or drinking when in control of a vehicle.
The poll also showed that 28 per cent have driven when feeling tired, 18 per cent have been in control of a car wearing flip-flops or no shoes at all and 16 per cent are guilty of excessive speeding.
Ben Tyte, manager of Sainsbury's Car Insurance, commented: "People can become very complacent behind the wheel, especially if they drive regularly. Often confident drivers can step over the line and drive in a manner that can endanger themselves and other road users."
He also pointed out that practicing behaviours such as these can increase the risk of a motorist being involved in a road accident and urged them to always concentrate on driving.
Earlier this month, Kwik-Fit highlighted the importance of checking vehicles over being setting off on long journeys.
