Motorists in the Midlands or in London keen to avoid making a claim on their car insurance may be concerned to hear the findings of a new survey.
Research by swiftcover.com has revealed that people in those areas are more likely to be victims of vehicle crime than anywhere else in the country.
The report also found that the vehicles most likely to be targeted are Ford Fiestas and Volkswagen Golfs.
However, the company has pointed out that there are a number of steps motorists can take to reduce their risk of falling victim to car crime.
Robin Reames, the claims director, said: "Whether you live in a busy town, leafy suburbs or sleepy village, always keep your car secure even for just a few minutes."
Vehicle owners are advised to make sure belongings are kept out of sight and to close doors, windows and sunroofs when leaving a car unattended for any length of time.
They are also warned to be wary of leaving car keys anywhere they could be stolen.
In a related story, Yes Insurance has reported police in Gloucestershire have launched a campaign in a bid to crackdown on vehicle crime.
