Motorcyclists looking to reduce the cost of their vehicle insurance could find that taking a motorcycle awareness course may help.
Ian Crowder, public relations manager at AA Insurance noted that motorbikes offer a number of benefits in terms of the environmental benefits and also generally offer a quicker way of getting around than cars do.
But they are more dangerous and as a result insurance premiums can be high.
However, riders looking to reduce costs could find an awareness course offer a number of benefits.
"You're not guaranteed to have an accident when you get on a bike. You can reduce the risk of having an accident by taking a motorcycle awareness course and taking such courses can reduce your insurance premiums," said Mr Crowder.
He added that being cautious about the dangers of motorcycling was no bad thing as it can enhance road awareness and make riders more aware.
Statistics from the Department for Transport found there were some 16,360 motorcyclists injured on the road during 2006.
