Barclaycard wins at Cards International Awards

Barclaycard has scooped two prizes at the 2010 Cards International Awards.

The firm won the honour of Best Commercial Credit Card Issuer for its Barclaycard Commercial product and the Best Innovation in Loyalty Programme for the Barclaycard Freedom scheme.

Barclaycard Commercial is a Visa corporate charge card which has extra features to protect against identity theft. Each card includes an embedded keypad, LCD screen and battery which allow it to be used as a platform for secure applications.

Meanwhile, Barclaycard Freedom is a loyalty scheme which is open to eight million of the firm's customers and has invited more than 30,000 retailers to be partners.

During the first two weeks of the scheme, which launched in March this year, almost £164,936 was earned in rewards.

Sarah Alspach, marketing director at Barclaycard Freedom, said: "These two awards demonstrate our investment in innovation, and our commitment to developing card technology across the board for the benefit of our customers."
