News: DIY holidaymakers should 'get protected'
DIY holidaymakers should 'get protected'

Research from uSwitch.com has told consumers who are planning a DIY holiday to make sure they are protected and get the best deals.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) warned earlier this year that the 20 million holidaymakers who decide to do-it-themselves will not be protected by the CAA's financial protection scheme, the Air Travel Organiser's Licensing (ATOL).
USwitch.com said customers will not only be protected by using credit cards when purchasing their holiday, but they can stand to make a saving of £859 million if they use the best card available.
Due to the credit crunch "protection should be a high on any holidaymaker's shopping list", according to uSwitch.com.
If a customer books a DIY holiday - arranging flights and hotels separately and independently - they will only be covered if the bookings are cancelled if they use a credit card.
Virgin Money last week said holidaymakers may want to use pre-paid credit cards in order to help them stick to a vacation budget.
