Safe card advice launched for travellers

Guidance has been published for people who are planning to use their credit cards when on an overseas holiday.
The UK Cards Association and travel association ABTA have launched the Using Your Card Overseas consumer advice guide to ensure holidaymakers use the products in the best possible way.
Travellers are advised to only take with them the cards which they will use and to leave the others in a secure location in their home. They should also carry their credit card company's 24-hour contact telephone number with them.
Furthermore, consumers should register their cards' details with a protection agency and ensure their providers have up-to-date contact information for them on record.
John DeVial, head of communications at ABTA, said: "Paying with plastic continues to be a popular choice for holidaymakers and business travellers going abroad. The advice in this guide provides UK consumers with useful information that can help ensure a safe and stress-free time overseas."
Recently, the Bank of Scotland reminded holidaymakers of the importance of taking out travel insurance to protect against unforeseen circumstances such as theft.
