Some Brits 'would lick a pavement for cash'

One-quarter of Brits would lick a pavement if this meant they would receive £400, a new poll has found.

A survey conducted by moneysupermarket.com also found that people would consider less humiliating actions if it won them £400, with 75 per cent willing to fill out a form to enter a competition.

In addition, 57 per cent would stand in a queue for four hours and 54 per cent would write a 1,000 word essay in response to a question, while 24 per cent would enter into a medical experiment.

Clare Francis, site editor at moneysupermarket.com, commented: "We all like the idea of getting something for nothing and it's clear from our research that a large proportion of the UK public are prepared to go to some quite extreme lengths for some free dosh."

However, she pointed out that consumers have a number of ways to obtain money which is essentially free, such as making use of a cashback credit card that rewards spending.

Recent research by Halifax found that the average Brit thinks they have lost £1.61 in loose change down the back of their sofa, totalling £42.9million for the whole UK.
