Brits 'making it easy for burglars'

Halifax Home Insurance is warning Brits ahead of National Home Security Week to start being more careful about protecting their possessions.
Research by the group revealed the hiding places people in the UK use for their most prized possessions are often the first place thieves will look.
Some 23 per cent of those questioned admitted to hiding valuables under the bed, in their sock drawer and on top of the wardrobe places burglars have been shown to head to straight away.
The survey also revealed people in the south-east are least likely to implement extra security measures, while people in the north of England and the Midlands were most likely to use stereotypical hiding places for expensive goods.
David Rochester from Halifax Home Insurance said: "This research is proof we need to get smarter in our thinking on protecting our possessions."
Meanwhile, Sheilas' Wheels has advised parents to make sure expensive electronic items taken to school by their kids, including iPods and mobile phones, are covered under their home insurance policy.
