Flood warnings 'highlight importance of home insurance'

Reports that a month's worth of rain fell in one day yesterday highlight the importance of home insurance, according to Fairinvestment.co.uk.
The previous few days have seen the Environment Agency issue a number of flood warnings.
Approximately five million people in two million houses across the UK live in flood risk areas, the agency claims.
Last year around 49,000 households were flooded between May and July. Some of the people affected are still living in temporary accommodation.
Fairinvestment.co.uk spokesperson Rachael Stiles said: "It is easy to think that floods won't happen to you, but let the rain of recent days serve as a reminder."
She added people should not be tempted to sacrifice home insurance in the face of the credit crunch as deciding to risk going without "could be disastrous".
In other news, Sheilas' Wheels Home Insurance has warned that women could be putting themselves at risk of identity theft by carrying around personal information in their handbags.
