Glastonbury-goers need to 'check their insurance'

The thousands of music fans who will be heading to Glastonbury later this month need to check their home contents cover before leaving, according to esure.

Mike Pickard, head of risk and underwriting at esure, said: "Festivals such as Glastonbury are havens for opportunistic thieves and pickpockets and the very nature of these types of music events radically increases the likelihood of belongings being accidentally dropped, misplaced or damaged."

He added, if possible, it was best to avoid packing "anything that is of value".

However, he also pointed out that someone whose mobile phone fell out of their pocket and was lost could make a claim if they had personal possession cover away from home.

On the other hand, he said valuables stolen from an unlocked tent were unlikely to be covered.

This year's Glastonbury festival will take place between 27th and 29th June and the featured acts will include the Kings of Leon, Jay-Z and Shakin' Stevens.
