Insurance brokers 'can offer advice'

Opting for the advice of an insurance broker may help consumers to understand which policies best suit their needs, an expert has argued.
While some insurers may appear to offer a number of frills and benefits with cover, some consumers can be confused by this, a spokesperson for the British Insurance Brokers' Association has argued.
Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive at BIBA said that while home and car insurance policies now appear to be more comprehensive they can also be confusing to consumers.
"Over the last few years a lot of insurers have tried to make their cover more comprehensive and they've been including more and more cover within their policies," he said.
Mr Trudgill added that home insurance policies now offer a items such as accident damage, which has in the past not been available.
And for consumers looking for advice over what they do and do not need could consider approaching a broker, he said.
Recent research from Fool.co.uk found that some 60 per cent of consumers dislike insurance, but feel it is a price worth paying.
