June 'sees most burglaries'

More home theft claims are made on June 6th by residents over the age of 50 than on any other day of the year, it has been revealed.
Research carried out by financial services provider Saga Group indicates around half of all burglaries happen when a home is empty and many take place during the evening or at night.
The group went on to say June is a vulnerable time of year as many over 50s are jetting off on holidays to avoid the school holiday price rises and also going out in the evenings to take advantage of the longer, sunnier days.
Andrew Goodsell, executive chairman at the organisation, commented: "If people are going away for a fortnight or just popping out for the evening, they should always check their property is as safe and secure as possible."
Earlier this week, price comparison website Gocompare.com stressed that UK gardens become increasingly attractive to thieves during the summer months.
