Lessons 'must be learned from MPs' expenses'

Recent media reports on MPs' expenses highlight the importance of being truthful when taking out home insurance, it has been stressed.
According to price comparison website Confused.com, coverage of Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George's expenses claims, which allegedly include a home insurance policy in his daughter's name, should act as a warning to householders who are tempted to engage in 'fronting'.
This strategy involves putting incorrect names on policies in order to benefit from cheaper premiums and is classed as insurance fraud.
Darren Black, head of home insurance at the group, commented: "Honesty is the only policy when it comes to home insurance. Fronting is fraud and those participating in such an activity are showing some front, in more ways than one."
Earlier this week, Confused.com emphasised that property owners should ensure that their home insurance contains adequate protection for their gardens.
The company added that that people's plots can often contain expensive items such as barbeques and patio furniture that are not covered.
