Interest in life insurance 'rises in new year'

People tend to buy new life insurance at the same time as committing to healthy lifestyles at the start of a new year, it has been suggested.
Price comparison website LifeSearch pointed out that many people's new year's resolutions see them making pledges to join a gym, quit smoking and avoid junk food, as well as looking for new cover.
The group revealed that searches for life insurance products increased during January, after falling off at the end of 2009, which it attributes to more people becoming aware of how important it is to be healthy.
"As the importance of life insurance is clearly most prominently in people's consciousness in January, it is important that those seeking out life insurance get the best deal this month," LifeSearch added.
The organisation recommended that life insurance customers use a reliable price comparison service to allow them to find the best deals on the market.
Comparison website Gocompare.com recently claimed that being healthy and financially secure were among the top new year's resolutions made by Brits at the start of 2010.
