Good weather is top of Brits' wish list when it comes to the perfect wedding, according to Alliance & Leicester.
However, research by the building society has revealed that couples in the UK tend to underestimate the cost of getting hitched.
The average wedding costs £19,400, which is £3,400 more than the £16,000 those surveyed expected their big day to cost.
Carol Richardson from Confetti.co.uk said: "A good wedding is one where both parties are happy and relaxed. Careful planning means setting a realistic budget from the outset, shopping around for a low rate loan, as well as the best deals on products and services."
On wedding wishes with no price tag, 56 per cent of brides in Northern Ireland said it was most important to have a handsome groom, while 17 per cent of Londoners said they were most concerned about having a designer wedding dress.
Mancunians were most likely to count having a famous band or singer in their top ten wedding wish list.
Meanwhile, despite strong sales in May, Capital Economics has said rising living costs in the UK mean it is likely people will start cutting back on their spending.
