One in ten 'unsure about their level of debt'

Despite the fact that 96 per cent of Brits claim to be on top of their finances, a new survey has revealed contradictory findings.

Research by CreditExpert.co.uk has found that only one in four of us can accurately state how much we have left to pay on our loans.

One in five of us admit to only planning our finances once every six months or less and one in ten say we have no idea how much debt we are in.

Jim Hodgkins from CreditExpert.co.uk said: "Keeping track of your commitments and planning for the future are always important."

He added that as well as monitoring bank and credit card statements, we should also regularly check our credit report is "accurate and up-to-date".

Elsewhere, MoneyExpert.com has found the number of people concerned about debt has risen from 33 per cent to 38 per cent in three months.
