Brits must start building up their pension pots

Brits have been told that it is imperative they start planning for their retirement and building up a pension pot.

This is according to advice firm In My Prime, which claims that people who do not start thinking about how they will fund their twilight years will struggle financially in the future.

The company added that planning needs to be undertaken early and people should be motivated about saving for their retirement.

Dianne Bown-Wilson, chief executive of In My Prime, said: "Today, for most people, retirement will last a very long time, so people need to be sure they are going to have enough money to sustain the sort of lifestyle they envisage before they decide to retire."

Recently, research from the University of Missouri found that planning for changes in lifestyle leads to better retirement options for married couples.

Angela Curl, an assistant professor in the institution's School of Social Work, stated that people can benefit socially and financially by sorting out their pensions early.
