'Lifetime pet insurance cover the best type of policy', says SafePets UK

Brits should make sure they take out pet insurance for their pooches, according to SafePets UK.
The company claims that Brits should forget "fancy add-ons" for a policy and just make sure they get the best cover for vet fees, including lifetime coverage for illnesses.
According to the firm, this type of pet insurance can really make a difference when a family cat or dog falls seriously ill.
Debbie Connolly, animal behaviour consultant at SafePets UK, said: "Choosing a policy that will give permission for treatment and pay the vet directly takes the pressure off owners at difficult times."
Co-operative research revealed that Brits spend on average over £300 per annum looking after ill animals, and many of them take time off work to nurse their canines and felines back to full health.
The firm's report highlighted that despite rising veterinary costs almost two-thirds of cat and dog owners do not have a pet insurance policy in place.
