More holidaymakers could benefit from buying annual multi-trip travel insurance, according to American Express.
The group claims 85 per cent of British travellers are looking at buying insurance for their holiday and, of those, 69 per cent are planning to buy a yearly multi-trip policy during the next 12 months.
Chris Rolland, head of American Express insurance services said: "If people are planning to go away more than once this year, it is far more cost effective to buy an annual insurance policy than numerous single trip products."
He added, although holiday costs can mount up, investing in annual travel insurance could save money in the long term and allow Brits to enjoy several breaks a year.
Meanwhile, Asda has advised travellers to make sure they have adequate travel insurance before heading abroad in the light of news reports which revealed 1,000 bags go missing each day at Heathrow's terminal five.
