Brits 'want environmentally rated holidays'
By Tom Farley, Tue 8 Nov 2011 - Published in Travel Insurance
A growing number of British travel insurance customers who are heading abroad believe that holidays should have an environmental rating in the same way as they are rated in terms of quality.
The Association of British Travel Agents' (ABTA) Consumer Trends Survey has discovered that some 10 million holidaying Brits want to see their trips rated in terms of how green they are.
This number has seen a sizeable increase in the past year, with 33 per cent now looking for information on how environmentally friendly a holiday is, compared to only 29 per cent in 2010.
Soren Stober, Travelife's business manager, said: "These findings back up research from the same survey that more and more people are expecting holiday companies to be both socially and environmentally responsible."
The previous ABTA Consumer Trends Survey found that a fifth of British travellers holiday in foreign countries without travel insurance as they falsely believe they will be covered by the government should they rack up medical bills.
