Courchevel 'priciest ski resort'

Travel insurance customers have been told of the true price of taking a skiing break in Courchevel in France.

Research from Confused.com found that the resort is the most expensive area in the country, with the price of a six-day ski pass standing at 26 per cent more than those in neighbouring facilities.

In addition, a glass of wine in a Courchevel bar is 356 per cent more than a drink in nearby Montgenevre, while those attending ski school can expect to pay 43 per cent more than they would in Samoens.

Steve Williams, head of travel insurance at Confused.com, said: "Ski holidays are widely recognised as an expensive break away.

"Looking at the extras people will have to pay, once they get there, gives us an idea of where the French, financial hotspots for skiers are."

He also reminded people to take out travel insurance when hitting the slopes in Courchevel, in order to prevent medical bills from making the trip even more expensive.

Last week, Bob Atkinson, travel expert at moneysupermarket.com, pointed out that travel insurance is vital if people are planning on enjoying winter sports when on holiday.
