Make sure of winter sports cover

People looking for travel insurance to travel abroad for a spot of skiing this winter should ensure that they add essential winter sports cover to their policy in order to be certain that they are fully covered against injury.
A recent investigation from MoneySupermarket.com has found that many travel insurance customers do not know the benefits of winter sports cover, and urged those buying it to make sure they read the small print.
Many winter sports cover policies only give skiers protection for a set number of days on the slopes in any one year, so people who are frequent skiers should make sure they buy the correct policy to avoid any potentially nasty hospital bills.
Bob Atkinson, travel expert at MoneySupermarket.com, said: "Skiers should pay close attention to the detail of their policies and ensure it includes winter sports protection such as piste closure, avalanche closure and off-piste skiing."
It was revealed by the Association of British Travel Agents in October that a fifth of British holidaymakers wrongly believe the government will cover them if they get injured whilst abroad.
