One in five forget travel insurance

One in five holidaymakers could be taking a risk by going on their half term vacation without travel insurance, according to new research.
A survey carried out by the Post Office found that ten per cent of UK adults, or 4.8 million people, intend to go abroad during the upcoming school holidays, but many leave purchasing essentials until the last minute.
The poll discovered that 20 per cent of holidaymakers forget to take out travel insurance, with those in East Anglia being most likely to take a break without cover.
In addition, seven per cent do not purchase their foreign currency until the day before they travel, with four per cent not sorting this out until they arrive at their destination.
Sarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Services, said: "With the half term holiday looming it's a great time to escape for a relaxing break, but those who leave their planning to the last minute are creating stress for themselves and more worryingly putting themselves at risk."
Last month, price comparison website MoneySupermarket.com stressed the importance of travel insurance if people intend to try extreme sports such as bungee jumping or white water rafting when on holiday.
