People on gap-years advised not to cut corners when it comes to travel insurance

The age of people taking gap years and the amount of money being spent on these trips is on the rise, according to research from American Express Insurance.
A survey by the company has revealed 90 per cent of gap year travellers are now over 30-years-old.
With greater numbers of older, wealthier Brits hitting the road there are now more travellers who are less wary of cost and more concerned with luxury, the report found.
With eight per cent of people spending up to £10,000 on their trip, Chris Rollands, head of American Express Insurance, said people should not underestimate the importance of travel insurance.
He commented: "Although the cost of travelling can add up, we would urge people not to cut corners when it comes to insurance."
This comes after the Association of British Travel Agents reported, despite the current economic uncertainty in the UK, the holiday market is still thriving.
