People 'should not ski after drinking'

Skiers should ensure they do not invalidate their travel insurance by drinking before hitting the slopes, it has been claimed.
Research from Confused.com found that 24 per cent of skiers have hit the slopes after having four or more drinks, leading to accidents such as falls or other enthusiasts being struck.
The poll also discovered that 30 per cent of people think their travel insurance will cover them for accidents which occur when they are under the influence of alcohol.
However, Steve Williams, head of travel insurance at the price comparison website, pointed out that all policies have a clause which excludes claims made as a result of drinking.
"Skiers must be made aware of the risk they take if drinking when on holiday; insurance providers are fully within their rights to decline claims involving alcohol," he explained.
Earlier this month, Carl Christopher, spokesperson for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, said that people heading on skiing holidays this winter should ensure they have travel insurance and research what rescue services are found in the destination.
