Price war begins for ski resorts
By Tom Farley, Fri 2 Dec 2011 - Published in Travel Insurance
Travel insurance customers will be able to pick and choose where they do their skiing this year after a price war broke out between resorts desperate to catch the attention of the budget aware skiing fan.
Some resorts in the Alps have found themselves having to slash prices by up to half as a shortage of snow fall has led to skiers not having full access to the slopes.
This means that, according to the Post Office, which published the latest prices, that they can now be competitive with the increasingly popular cheaper skiing holidays in Bulgaria, which has seen a swell in visitors due to the low cost.
Sarah Munro, head of travel money at the Post Office, told the Telegraph: "This is welcome news for cash-conscious family skiers. Prices are more competitive than before."
Skiing travellers need to make sure they are not going to cost themselves extra on claims however, as they were warned recently of the need to make sure they have the correct cover when travelling abroad, as many policies offer only minimal cover for winter sports.
