Skiing costs soar but Brits not put off

People getting travel insurance this winter will still be heading on skiing holidays, despite them rising in price.
Research from Santander Cards has found that the price of winter sports breaks is now higher than at any other time since the millennium, costing on average £686.
However, this price hike coupled with the recession does not seem to be stopping people booking a break, getting their travel insurance and heading away.
The company advised those looking for a bargain to head to non-euro destinations, saying that Bulgaria and Kranjska Gora in Slovenia are likely to have the best deals.
Emma Roberts, director at Santander Cards, said: "Winter sports enthusiasts may well be tempted to try somewhere new this year because of the impact of the weak pound on prices for premium European skiing destination."
Holidaymakers can also save money by getting sufficient travel insurance for the winter sports, as it can end up costing lots of money if injury or illness occurs and the skier is not covered.
