A new report by Tesco which has looked at the experience of Brits on holiday abroad has highlighted the importance of travel insurance.
The survey found nine per cent of Brits have had their wallet or purse stolen while on holiday in a foreign country, with 23.8 per cent of travellers aged 18 and under falling victim to this crime.
Some seven per cent of holidaymakers reported the money which had been stolen was taken from a safe or room deposit box.
In order to try and combat the problem, the research revealed four per cent of travellers had resorted to stuffing money in their pants, while a further ten per cent admitted to wearing bum bags.
The survey also found, despite the credit crunch, 63 per cent of Brits abroad do not budget.
Recent research by CreditExpert has revealed 24 per cent of people in the UK are sacrificing summer holidays abroad this year as a result of financial worries.
